About

George Chatzopoulos was born in Athens and comes from a family of musicians with roots from Naxos island, playing the traditional music of the Cyclades. His brother Nicos, a prominent violinist with a great career, along with his father Giannis on clarinet and his uncle Vassilis on lute, made countless live performances for decades. The milestones of their careers were the live venues "Glaros" in N. Philadelphia and "Asteria" in Chalandri, where George, still a high school student, made his first professional appearance and since then has been working as a musician.
From an early age he is committed to the guitar. As a teenager, he was involved in various rock groups writing his own music, while continuing studying music theory in local music school and in private lessons. He was awarded a scholarship after his participation at Berklee's college of music 1992 international scholarship auditions but due to family and professional obligations he finally remained in Greece.
He holds an LLCM - with honors (100/100) - in Music Performance on electric guitar, NQF Level 6 (equivalent BSc), from West London University.
He also graduated with honors with a degree in classical guitar from the Conservatory of Nikaia - Ag.I. Rentis, class of Vassilis Mastorakis.
He holds a degree (distinction) in Popular music theory Grade 8 from London College of Music and is a member of RGT.
As a session guitarist, he collaborates with artists from across the spectrum of Greek music and he performs live throughout Greece and in major cities around the world. He also has a wide repertoire as a recording studio guitarist (https://www.apollon.org.gr/).
As a solo performer on fingerstyle guitar, he arranges and plays music from different genres (pop/rock, classical, jazz, ethnic, Greek etc), creating  setlists based on a repertoire which is continually enriched. He has already released albums and singles (Shop) and he enjoys performing live as well as in seminars and clinics.
He is teaching guitar and music theory in all grades.
